Club Greenwood is gearing up for our American Red Cross Training Classes. We offer these classes to provide a streamlined certification opportunity for young adults in the metropolitan area. The program is geared toward aquatic safety and saving lives. Jan Smith, our American Red Cross Instructors says, “For every Lifeguard, we train and certify at Club Greenwood, we are saving other lives in the community by emphasizing that people of all ages need to be safe in and around the water. I have taught swimming at Club Greenwood off and on since 1991 and have been a Lifeguard Trainer since 2015. I love this club, the members and the staff and I am proud to be the Lifeguard Trainer at Club Greenwood. I strongly feel, along with our Aquatics staff and the help of our parents, all swimmers will be safe in and around the pools.”

Red Cross Lifeguard Training
Must be 15 years of age. American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, Lifeguard Recertification, Lifeguard Instructor courses. National certifications valid for two years (includes CPR/First Aid). A $50 fee will be charged for any class canceled less than seven days prior to class start. Must have the online portion completed before the first day of class. The online class will need to be completed before the first day of class. Once registered, Jan will email you the link for the online portion.

Junior Lifeguard Camp
The Junior Lifeguard Camp provides an enjoyable pre-certification program for young teens on how to handle themselves safely in a variety of water situations. They will enjoy working as part of a team as they tackle challenges and practice key maneuvers. Fun, safety and new skills are all part of the exciting program.

Crystal Garland
Crystal has been at Club Greenwood since 2006 and currently teaches lessons, water fitness and is and USA Certified Coach. Crystal is certified in the SwimAmerica program and is best known for improving young and adult people’s stroke’s and making them feel comfortable in the water. Crystal competed locally in Age group club swimming, College swimming at Iowa State University and still loves to compete with Masters swimming at Club Greenwood. Swimming is clearly a family affair as husband, Bob, and all three of her sons also swim!
