As an avid outdoor enthusiast, Malissa found yoga to be the obvious choice for someone who desperately needed to strike a balance between strength and flexibility. Initially, she was drawn to the physical aspects of yoga, enjoying the challenges of asana, however as someone who´s been practicing and teaching for nearly two decades, Malissa discovered the deeper benefits of this lifelong journey. This evolution of self-discovery is what she shares and encourages in those who attend her classes. Malissa believes her practice, both on and off the yoga mat, have deepened her understanding and appreciation for what a dedicated practice can offer. She teaches various forms of yoga including Hatha, Yin, and Restorative, and especially appreciates Vinyasa flow for the combination of mental focus, Pranayama (breath control) and strengthening through proper alignment techniques.
Malissa holds certifications from YogaWorks® and YogaFit® and she is registered with Yoga Alliance®. She considers Annie Carpenter, Maty Ezraty, Darren Rhodes and her students to be among her most respected teachers.
Malissa unplugs by spending time outdoors with family and friends, gardening, trail running, hiking, kayaking, biking, skiing and travelling are among her pastimes. Malissa’s mantra is, “surround yourself with those who make you laugh. Laughter is contagious and healthy.”
